Theodore Major
Untitled (Man and Sun), Oil on board, 160 x 122 cm, circa 1975.
The working-man walks with determination in the industrial setting. Theo used to say that he sensed a kind of electrical "crackle" around the rushing bodies of minders as they went to and from work, as though their presence disturbed the very atmosphere. He had such tremendous respect for them in the harshness of their lives.
Sunlight offers a special blessing — a spiritual presence — to guide the weary man home.
